Monthly Favourites | September

Happy Sunday!! This is a little late as we’re now in October, but today i’ll be discussing my favourites for the month of September. So I hope you enjoy and let’s get into it!!

Disclosure: Don’t expect any surprises here… Most of these products have been featured in other posts throughout the month!

Firstly and most obviously it’s the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. This is heaven. I have been absolutely loving this and I think this will feature in many a blog post to come. It goes on so effortlessly and starts as an oil. Lather up with a bit of water and it soon thins out and really cleanses the skin. Wash off with a muslin cloth and you’re good to go. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and I have really been noticing a difference. Side note: It smells like turkish delight… but hey, who doesn’t want to smell of sweet goodness?
Well well well… what can I say about this? Just that it is skincare perfection. The way I came about this was that my friend had it, I heard about it online so when I saw she used this, I was on that! As soon as I put it on, I was in love. It really does as it says on the tin (Although as you can see, it’s not  tin). It covers the sight of any pores and imperfections and really does leave your skin feeling so smooth. This works really well for me to cover any shine as well. I tend to use a pea size splodge in the morning over my nose and along my cheekbones. The packaging does state that it’s good to use as top-up during the day, but i’ve been finding it lasts all day. This for sure is a top contender of the favourites this month and will definitely be replenishing once i’ve run out.
You may have seen this baby featured in my What’s In My Bag post. This is my new Whistles key ring and well, look at it. It’s so cool. What a way to brighten up a set of keys. Obviously my car keys are on me at all times, so why not jazz it up. I have had so many people ask me where I got this and so many compliments. So I picked this one up from the ASOS website and have no regrets. It came in three different colour combinations, but the red was my fave!! Not only does it look really good, it’s practical. Now that it’s so big and bright, I can now actually find my keys at the bottom of my bag. Now if that’s not a reason to put this into my monthly favourites, then I don’t know what is!!
Now onto this bad boy. Last but not least it’s my new pen. I’m a bit of a self-confessed stationary whore, so when my best friend, Kate told me she had a fancy pen which she didn’t use, I practically begged her for it.
With my job, I am constantly writing things down, taking notes, signing things and just generally need a pen for everything. The problem is, all the pens in my office are horrible. So when I got my hands on this bad boy, all my stationary dreams came true. I feel like a right Fancy Nancy when I whack this one out!!
If you’re interested, this pen is from the brand Cross. I didn’t know how much it cost as it was a gift. But it’s so good, highly recommended… especially for those stationary whores among us!
So there you have it. My 4 favourite things throughout the month of September. I have decided this is something I will be doing every month. So we’ll see if anything repeats itself this time next month!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and I’ll see you mid week for another post!

How I Make Myself Look Presentable.

I remember being really young and watching my mum get ready in the mornings. So many potions, lotions, creams and sprays… And not actually knowing what it was all for. As I got older, I got progressively envious of her. Why didn’t I have all the potions and lotions she had? And then as I got even older than that, I thought, well why not buy your own? So I did. And here they are.
Beauty, fashion and general appearance has always been something really close to me. When deciding what college course to take, I nearly applied for fashion school until I realised you had to have some level of drawing skills. Drawing skills I did not have.
But back to my point of beauty and fashion. It’s always been something close to my heart, something that my friends have always known me for and as time has gone by, I have really been taking the time to look into different products. Why not experiment? You’ll never know unless you try.
So in the above picture, you can see everything I use in the mornings to make myself look half decent. As you can see, It takes a lot to make it possible to leave the house. I won’t talk you through everything, you all have eyes, you can see what the products are. A couple of things I will touch on though are the Benefit Porefessional, Boots No7 Concealer and the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel
Let’s start with the Benefit Porefessional and the Boots No7 Concealer. Yes I am a man. Yes, both of these products are found in the make up section. And yes, I am a man who wears these two products. But I don’t class myself as a man who wears make up. Contradictory? I dunno. Who cares? Although designed for women, these two products are amazing. The Porefessional Is literally a saviour. I suffer from quite large pores and they can sometimes be quite visible. This product simply reduces the sign of pores and actually reduces shine. It’s amazing. I put this on every morning after I have moisturised and it simply makes my skin look 10 times better throughout the day. Thats all. As for women, I believe it is used as a primer before applying their make up.
Now for the Boots No7 concealer. I actually started using this because my mum had it. I suffered quite badly from spots while growing up and hated it. Someone who cared so much about how they looked yet had a face full of spots.. can you imagine? So I would use my mums concealer occasionally just to hide the spots, take away any blemishes and to try and improve the look of my skin. It worked for me. It made me feel a lot better about myself and so I bought my own. This isn’t something I wear everyday, but If I’m having a breakout, my skin isn’t so great or I’ve got dark circles, then I’ll use these concealer to… well, conceal.
Last but by no means least, the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel. I was a bit sceptical about getting this. I read a hell of a lot about it on blogs, I had seen it used by Vloggers and I did my research. It’s not cheap considering it’s just a face wash, but my god, It’s worth it. I think it’s really important that if you’re going to put products on your face, such as concealers and primers, then it’s really important to make sure you’re taking them off again at the end of the day.
This actually smells like turkish delight (Bit odd, but you get used to it). It goes on the skin so nicely, It’s got a really good consistency and leaves your skin feeling so smooth afterward. It is £28, so not the cheapest on the market, but I guess you get what you pay for. I love this for my skin, as It’s really temperamental, I always want to make sure what I’m putting on my face is good quality. I can highly recommend this product and you can pick it up from your local Space NK.
So I hope you enjoyed this little mid week post and sorry I went off on a little rant about the whole make up thing…. Maybe that’s something I’ll discuss in a future post, who knows? Sometimes it’s best to leave your opinions at the door, ey?
Anyway, enjoy the rest of the week, have an amazing weekend and I’ll be back very soon!

What’s In My Bag.

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you’ve all had a good weekend and are ready for the new week. To start the week off, I’m going to give you all a glimpse as to what’s inside my bag.
The bag I’m currently using is from Whistles. I bought this a couple of months ago while in Bath and absolutely love it. I have been a massive fan of Whistles for ages, but have never passed a store, so as you can imagine, I couldn’t resist going in.
I use this bag every day for work, It’s a perfect size and such a cool style and is made with such great quality… Now let’s begin with what’s inside.

So these are just a few essentials I keep In my bag.
(I’ve got to admit, I did throw out all the rubbish and scraps of paper…)
Firstly I have my notepad and pen. This notepad featured In my previous post. Anything and everything goes into here. Any blog post ideas, to do lists, shopping lists, anything I need reminding of, get’s put into this notepad.
Then my wallet, again featured In my previous post. At the moment this seems to be filled with receipts and change… It really needs a clear out, but I guess that’s what you get for having such a big wallet.
Paracetamol. There Is nothing worse than a headache. Got to have these close by just In case, although I am the kind of person who tries to go as long as possible before having to take medication. However, while at work, I need to clear it so I can concentrate. Always handy to have!
Then my iPod. I keep my music and phone separate as I was using too much storage on my iPhone. So I got myself an iPod Touch for all my music to go on. I keep this In my bag as you never know when you’re going to need It.
Then what feels like an extension to my body, my iPhone. This is literally my life. Everything Is on here including my schedule. If I lost this, I think I’d cry.
Lip balm. I think I have an obsession for lip balm. I have a tub of it everywhere. My room, my car, my office, my bag… Nobody likes a dry lip… (Hold the innuendos)
And finally my car keys. On my key rings I have my Tesco Clubcard (obviously), 2 key rings I bought on my recent trip to America. One is from NASA and the other Is from Universal Studios. I also have my most recent purchase which only arrive in the post yesterday… again from Whistles. This keyring is so cool. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I think it really brightens up my keyring and as it’s so bright, it makes it easier to find them in my bag.
So there you have it. A glimpse inside my bag and a few of the essentials I use on a daily basis. I hope you all have a great week, do something positive and I’ll see you all again soon for another blog post.

My Obsession With Tanned Leather.

It wasn’t until yesterday that I realised I think I’m addicted….
… Addicted to brown leather.
It was never intentional. It wasn’t until I was looking through my accessories when I soon realised that I have a hell of a lot of brown leather. I guess I have always just been attracted to it when purchasing anything.
So, I guess I’ll talk you through those purchases… what else do you do when you have an addiction? Blog about it, duh!
We start at the very bottom of the pile, my latest purchase, a note book. I have decided that I need to become more of a list person. I always think of things I need to get done, but never end up doing them. I’m thinking lists are going to help. This amazing note book Is from Paperchase. I could spend a fortune on stationary, but on this latest trip, I reframed and only got the notebook.
Working our way up the pile, we move onto my current wallet. I bought this one while in Paris at christmas. I bought this from Zara and It’s perfect. Slightly large, but perfect. I have never found a wallet big enough for everything I need and this one I found especially handy when travelling. It fits my passport, money, boarding passes etc, everything I need while travelling.
Now onto my next tanned leather item, a phone case. Not just any phone case, but one that holds cards, my phone and my iPod. Sometimes If I don’t need the whole contents of my wallet, I use this to hold my phone, iPod and cards. It comes in handy when I’m just running errands around town.
Let’s discuss the penultimate item. My old wallet. I never like anything too traditional, so this wallet I picked up on ASOS. This is from Scotch & Soda. Don’t get me wrong, I love this wallet, but It’s just not big enough. Sometimes, bigger is better.
Last but not least… my all time favourite item. My watch. Oh my dear Daniel Wellington watch. I wanted one of these for years, but in the UK, they are hard to come by. It wasn’t until my recent trip to the USA where I was mooching around in Bloomingdales, when I came across this baby. However at the time, it had a different strap, a strap from their Nato range. One I love all the same, yet one that I didn’t find as durable as the leather strap. This strap I picked up on the Daniel Wellington website a couple of months ago and have loved it ever since.
So there you have It. A small Insight Into the obsession I have with tanned leather.
I hope you have enjoyed it. Comment below some of your obsessions, I’d love to know!
