Cities and be overwhelming so that’s why I thought I’d share with you the delight of Adelaide Botanical Gardens, hidden in the heart of the city. It’s the perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy city and find a little piece of calm in what is otherwise a hectic environment.
// Botanical Gardens – How To Get There \\
If you’re in the city already, there will be signs everywhere pointing you directly to the gardens. In short, they’re located on the same plot as the Adelaide Zoo and right next to the universities. There is parking all around the gardens but beware, it isn’t cheap. For 45 minutes of parking, it set us back $2.70. If I were you, I’d try and walk from your accomodation in the city or look for parking a little way out and walk in.
I’m not a big lover of plants but there is something about a botanical garden that draws me in every single time. I love how well kept they are, how interesting all the different displays can be and the creator in me, loves how with every corner you turn, you’ve stumbled across another photo opportunity.
There was a real mix of tropical plants, trees and cactus throughout Adelaide Botanical Gardens and really something for everyone. Different houses you could walk in, ponds, water features and even a bamboo forest.
This is a great way to kill a few hours in the city without costing you an arm and a leg. Something I’ve found whilst travelling, is the need to make your money stretch further. Just because you don’t want to drop some serious dollar on getting into a tourist destination, it doesn’t mean you have to miss out. If you do your research enough, you’ll soon discover there is plenty that you can do for free.
I found it so peaceful to walk around here for the day, escape the craziness of life and get lost in conversation with each other. Especially as I have this massive road trip coming up and every day my to-do list just get’s longer and longer, it was good to escape all of that, put a hold on the planning and enjoy a day out in the city.
This goes for anything in life. When you’re feeling a little stressed or if your to-do list is overwhelming you, learn the importance of just stopping. Putting everything down and going out to enjoy the afternoon with friends, go and spend time with family or get lost in the rabbit hole of youtube. Just do something to distract yourself and take your mind off the every day. That way you’ll come back feeling way more refreshed and ready to smash out that days tasks.
If you’re in Adelaide or you have plans to visit the city, make sure you add the botanical gardens to your list. It’s well worth it. If you’re seeking a few more thrills, then why not head to Adelaide Jail. Check out this blog post >> HERE << where I tell you all about my visit to the abandoned prison!
