Things To Do In Browns Bay

Browns Bay

Browns Bay. Situated just 10 minutes outside of Albany in the North Island of New Zealand. A very quaint town, full of shops, cafes and restaurants. A seaside town that very much reminded me of being home.

This week I decided to take a trip down and explore. You can walk the length of the high street in just about 10 minutes, Browns Bay is perfect for filling an afternoon, brunching with friends or ticking something else off your bucket list of travels.

So in true blogger fashion, I thought I would turn my visit into a blog post, concoct a list of things to do and bring you the Best Bits Of Browns Bay.

Browns Bay

// The Coffee Shops \\

With an array of coffee shops dotted around the high street, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to stopping somewhere for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner… or even just a coffee. You really could spend all day parked up somewhere in Browns Bay. I tried out this place, GingerSnap and was not disappointed. Coffee & Gelato. Someone tell me a better combination. Situated right on the seafront, you’re just a stones throw away from the beach so it’s perfect for grabbing a coffee to go and heading for a little stroll down the beach.

If you fancy something a little more mainstream, right round the corner is a Starbucks. Either or, you’re not going to be short on coffee choices in Browns Bay.

Browns Bay

// The Beach \\

You can’t visit Browns Bay without visiting the beach. I was pleasantly surprised by the beaches of Browns Bay, with the River Mouth right there it adds something a little different to the usual beach. You either have the beach lined by seaside park and walk way, or in the other direction you have a slightly more secluded, tree lined beach. Either way, you’ve got some pretty special beaches with the views of Rangitoto Island in the distance.

// Sherwood Playground \\

Beaches not your thing? Fear not. Head into town a little and you’ll soon be surrounded by Sherwood Playground/ Freyberg Park. A great place to take the kids, walk the dogs or escape the busyness of the beach. Feed the ducks on a sunny day or just kill some time in the afternoon strolling around, Freyberg Park is big enough to do it all.

Browns Bay

// Shop Till You Drop \\

If like me, you’re a sucker for a good shopping session, then Browns Bay is perfect for you. Spend your time picking up some souvenirs of your travels, grabbing a little treat yo’self moment or buying something for nice for loved ones. Get lost in the shops of Browns Bay and pick up something to remember it by.

So there we have my first ‘travel tips’ post of New Zealand. I’m hoping to bring you more posts like this throughout my travels and I hope it helps. If you’re planning to visit New Zealand, then stay turned over the next few weeks for more posts like todays.
