The August Roundup

Well umm, yeah I guess I’m a little late with the roundup this month. I think I say it every month but OHMYGOD, how is it September already?! Well umm, yeah I guess I’m a little late with the roundup this month. I think I say it every month but OHMYGOD, how is it September already?! WTF? August was a very full on month. I barely had time to sit still, there was so much going on and a sh*t tonne of exciting things as well. So grab yourself a drink and get comfortable because today, we’re rounding up the month of August.

// The New Logo \\

Something very exciting happened this month… I got a new logo! I had been trying to design a new logo for months. Trying to do it myself, trying different softwares and different apps but I quickly came to the realisation, that’s not my strong point. So I put out on my social media that I was looking for a designer and luckily enough, contacted me and offered to design the logo for me. After a little back and fourth, he came up with this incredible logo which has completely changed the look of I’m so obsessed and over the moon with the way it looks. If you’re looking for a photographer or graphic designer, then definitely head over and check him out!

// Leaving Work \\

Probably the most exciting thing to have happen in August this year… I left work! Yep, I handed in my notice and as of the 31st of August, I was officially unemployed. After 4 years of working my way up in a company I had zero interest in, I have finally handed in my notice to pursue a dream I’ve had for as long as I can remember. It truly is hard to put into context just how I’m feeling right now but let me tell you, It’s pretty damn good. I’m so excited for what the future holds and this is just a drop in the ocean compared the how the rest of 2018 is looking.

// Cornwall \\

I’ve spoken about it more times than I care to remember but if you’ve somehow missed it, then Cornwall is very much my ‘happy place’. My auntie and uncle live there, they have the most incredible property that is literally a sanctuary and live in the most stunning location. So heading down to Penzance is definitely something I enjoy every so often and something that fills me with such peace. This month we went to Cornwall for the very last time with my brother and sister-in-law before they emigrate back to New Zealand. In true Cornwall style, it was miserable weather but us being us, we wrapped up warm and head out for a walk. Any Cornwall visit always makes it into the Monthly Roundups.

// Silverstone \\

Umm check me out being a total ‘lad’. For my Dad’s birthday, my uncle paid for us all to go to Silverstone. Them being big fans of the races, I obliged and stuck it out. Camping, motor racing… yeah, it’s not my usual top pick for a weekend. However, we literally had the best time. It was so nice to completely chill, spend some quality time together as a family and do something I’ve never done before. Having been a ‘Silverstone virgin’, I didn’t know what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean the campsite was, how luxury the racecourse was and how un-boring the event actually was. We had a cracking weekend away and it was nice to spend the time together before we leave.

// Family Time \\

That brings me nicely on to family time. With Reece & Jodie heading off in literally 2 weeks, it’s been a race against time in regards to seeing the family. We’ve been doing a lot of family get-togethers and lunches in preparation for their departure. It’s been nice to reconnect with distance relatives, spend the time together and appreciate what time we do have. It’s also been exciting to plan the future, when the family are coming out to visit and what we’re going to do when they’re in NZ. For everyone involved, our lives are about to change forever… so making plans has been really refreshing and is giving us all something to look forward to. It definitely makes the idea of leaving, a little easier.

// PR Packages \\

I’ve mentioned this before in a blog post:¬†The Perks Of Being A Blogger¬†about just how good it is to blog and some of the positives. One of those is the PR packages and the freebies. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sat here drowning in PR packages, but every now and again, it is nice to receive a little gift through the post. This month in particular, there have been some epic ones! I am lucky enough to be on the Soap & Glory PR list, so this month they sent me an incredible PR package, full of goodies I’m completely in love with. Also, I received the most perfect gift from Off The Map Jewellery. The necklace and bracelet they sent over have not left my body since I got them. I’m completely in love and feel so lucky to be in a position of receiving gifts like this.

So there we have it. Another month has passed us by, it’s been crazy over here at ByHarrison HQ and the next couple of months are about to get even more crazy. I have the entire month of September off work which I’m literally living for right now, so I’m looking forward to being able to dedicate more time to creating some epic content. For now, I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s post and I’ll see you back here very soon!
