Foody Friday | By Harrison

This weeks Foody Friday isn’t just a favourite food I’ve eaten, It’s more of a restaurant review. Kate & I decided to try somewhere new for dinner and head to a place in Bournemouth called Wild Wood. I do believe they’re a chain of Italian restaurants & I’ll tell you what, we were so pleasantly surprised.

Firstly when you walk in, they have a very small shop where you can buy the things they sell. For example you can pick up the pasta, the sauces and even some nice condiments and jams. Then you head into the restaurant and the decor is just Instagram goals. It’s really light and airy and has a real nice feel about the place. The staff and really friendly and couldn’t do enough for you.

Then we move onto the food. We sat there for a good 10 to 15 minutes just in awe of the menu. So many nice things, so many things I could’ve eaten and so many things to try. Honestly, I can’t wait to go back.

For starters we decided to share the baked brie. This wasn’t on the sharing menu, so the only downside being that there wasn’t enough. Honestly, the best baked brie I’ve ever had. Cooked with hazelnuts and garlic, this cheese just literally oozing with flavour. Partnered with sourdough bread, there was nothing not to like about this starter.

Heading into the main event, the main courses. Kate picked a chicken & mushroom baked pasta and I chose to have the duck & hoisin pizza. Both of these were so good, we shared them and truly, couldn’t pick a winner. Paired with a portion of chips, this really was everything we expected and more.

I’ve not had an experience like that for a while. Where you’ve got into a restaurant and everything has been so incredible, the food left you gagging for more (yes, I just said that) and there was absolutely nothing to fault.

For anyone thinking of trying somewhere new, check out Wild Wood. You’ll be very pleasantly surprised!
