Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to my first ever blogger event at Grosvenor Casino’s in Bournemouth. As you can imagine I was so nervous about the whole thing. The idea of going somewhere, completely unknown to me & with a bunch of people I had never met, was pretty nerve-wracking. Nevertheless, I went & had the most incredible time!
We were invited as part of the VIP Experience along with a private croupier. The whole event was catered for, from the moment we walked in the door to the moment we left. We were waited on hand & foot and the service we received was faultless. I really can’t thank the guys at Grosvenor Casino’s enough for this amazing event.
So, let me tell you a little bit about it…
When we got there we were greeted by Molly. Molly took us to a the bar which we had all to ourselves, we were allowed any drink we liked and all stood around to watch the barman make up the cocktails. Molly then took us on a tour of the casino, showing us around and telling us all about the Grosvenor brand.
This was really nice as I was the ‘newbie’ to the group and It gave me time to get to know everyone before we got into the main event. And for the record, everyone was lovely!
Everyone meet Ciara! We’ve agreed she’s practically my blogging twin! Literally, everything we did, liked and ate was exactly the same. Honestly, the whole crowd were so nice, so welcoming and by the end of the night, it was like I’ve known them all for years. This really is what blogging is all about.
After the grand tour, we then head on up stairs to the restaurant. This was where the night really got started as we all know, the food is really what I came for! We were allowed anything and everything off the menu (clearly Ciara and I got the same thing). We all got chatting, talking about our own blogs and our own experiences, sharing stories and a lot of laughs. It really was amazing. The food, well the food was near enough perfect.
I had the Tomato & Mozzarella Garlic Bread for started, followed by this incredible beef burger & homemade chips. Everyone had something different and the menu really did cater for everyone. One of the other bloggers on the trip was celiac and even the Gluten Free food looked amazing.
And after dinner the chef came out to introduce himself, asked how the meal was and thanked us for coming. This really was the icing on the cake for the restaurant. What’s great about Grosvenor is you don’t need to be a member to attend and you don’t even have to go to the casino if you just want to go for food. I’d highly recommend the restaurant to anyone!
Then it wouldn’t be right to go to a casino without having a little flurry on the tables. I’m not a betting man at all, I’ve never been to a casino and I’m pretty crap at card games (except UNO, I’m amazing at that). So this was all very alien to me and bless him, our private croupier, Jordan tried to explain it to me but it really did just go straight over my head. However, Jordan was pretty cute, so the view wasn’t bad whilst we all played!
We played a game of Blackjack and a game of Roulette… AND SOMEHOW I WON?!?! Must be a hidden talent.
Then 10:30pm came about and we all realised our parking was about to run out, baby sitters were getting tired and husbands-turned taxi drivers were waiting outside. It was time to say our goodbyes.
This really was the greatest way for me to experience my first ever taste of that casino life. Having never stepped foot in one before, I can definitely see why people love it so much. For me, I can’t bare to lose on even a scratch card so I really don’t see a gambling habit coming from me any time soon. With that in mind it really is important to gamble responsibly. For me it’s easy to say as I was invited as part of an event, the money we were playing with was fake & I had nothing to lose. But remember, enter with an open mind and when it’s time to stop, stop.
So finally, I’d just like to thank Grosvenor Casinos and Bournemouth Bloggers for inviting me to not only my first blogger event but an incredibly fun event at that. I’ve met some amazing people & can’t wait for the next one. Who’d have thought it ey, me going to a blogger event?!
Oh and also, I filmed a little GRWM for the event, check that out >> HERE <<
