Without a shadow of a doubt, starting my blog was the best thing I ever did. It’s the first and only hobby I’ve ever had, it’s the thing I’ve stuck to for the longest and by far my biggest passion.
Throughout the years ByHarrison has gone from byharrison.blogpost.co.uk to byharrison.com, it’s seen many face lifts and alterations but finally, I feel happy with it. However, I don’t think I’ve ever said why I started blogging, what made me sign up to this crazy world and whats been my inspiration. So guess what, today I’m going to explain all.
// How I Started \\
So, I feel like I was very ahead of time when it comes to blogs. I remember sitting at my old computer, checking out blogs and thinking ‘this is so cool’. I also remember telling my Mum about blogs and her not understanding a thing. I liked blogs when blogs weren’t cool. My love started after watching Gossip Girl. Don’t ask.
Then shortly after, I got into Youtube. Youtubers were a new trend and blogs accompanied it nicely. Getting the inspiration from them to just jump in and start, was what got me started. After watching Lily Pebbles and The Anna Edit explain what platforms they use, I head straight to Blogger.com and signed myself up. And from that day I’ve never looked back.
// Why I Started \\
I’ve always been quite a creative person. I’ve always got a million ideas floating around my head, I love coming up with different ideas and bringing those ideas to life. Yet, I cannot draw to save my life. So at school, the only creative subject was either art or drama… and I was shit at both. I always had a love for English and writing, then I discovered Media Studies and that sort of combined my passions. Going to college I studied Media & Photography and that was where it all started.
However, I always struggled to express my creativity in a medium that I could relate with. Where could I combine my love of writing & photography?? And along came the blog. So really, the long & short of it, is to express my creativity. I use my blog as a platform to get creative. Share what’s on my mind and bring my passion to life.
And what inspires me? Quite simply, the community. Seeing other bloggers’ incredible talents, their ideas and different ways of creating such inspiring content is quite frankly, inspiring. I absolutely love this little blogging world of mine & it really is my biggest passion in life.
Any bloggers reading this, leave a comment below letting me know why you started your blog. I’d be intrigued to know.
Happy hump day & I’ll see you back here on Friday!
