Here we are again, another week, another blog post and another review from the incredible brand, The Ordinary. Way way back, you would’ve seen me first dipping my toe into The Ordinary pond and falling completely in love with the first ever serum I’d ever tried. Check that blog post out >> HERE <<

Well time has passed and my love of The Ordinary is still very much alive, with my collection growing just ever so slightly. I mean come on, you know a product is good when you decide not to buy the Glossier serums because you’re so in love with these.

But the biggest question is: As my collection grows, does The Ordinary get more ordinary? Well, stay tuned and you’ll find out whether it’s worth growing the collection or not.

So I’m now officially on my third bottle of the Granactive Retinoid 2% (formally the Advanced Retinoid 2%) and as ever, I’m still sooooo in love and use it, without fail, every. single. day.

But I decided to jump back on ASOS (It’s a dream that they stock it) and decided to go in and try something else. I was pondering for ages when I finally decided on the Salicylic Acid. I decided to grab this as it’s supposed to be for ‘blemish prone skin’. I saw that and immediately, it was straight in my basket! Buuuut, was it worth it?

Long story short, no.

Let me explain why. Upon reflection and I’ve been wracking my brain for quite a while, I think I’ve figured out why I’m not keen. I genuinely think it’s because the Retinoid is so good, nothing can compete. I used the Salicylic Acid for about 2 weeks straight and I just wasn’t very impressed. To begin with, I saw no results. My skin just looked the same, nothing was changing. So straight away it’s a bit of an anti-climax.

Then after a while, I soon began to see my skin was becoming more red, I was breaking out more and actually, it made my complexion really un-even. I found it was working opposite to the Retinoid. So I stopped using it and cracked open my brand new pot of Retinoid and within 2-3 days, I saw instant results and my skin was looking much better and returning to its usual self.

I feel if I hadn’t known or tried the Retinoid and gone straight in for the Salicylic, then I would’ve loved it. But comparing the two, the Retinoid comes out on top every time!

I finally feel really happy with my skin routine. I’ve got my holy grail of products, my go-to’s and the one’s that I know, without fail are going to have my back and rescue me from any skin disaster days. I feel happy I’ve tried another product but for me, I feel really content with the Retinoid.

Like I’ve said before though, The Ordinary is no ordinary brand. It’s such an incredible product and I’d encourage anyone to try it. Plus, for only £6 you really can’t go wrong!

Meet me back here, same time on Wednesday for another blog post. This time it’s going to be about Instagram Ad’s. Stay tuned!
